As we travel down the road together one last time, I’m sad that I cannot be with you on my bike or beside my massage table. (Hey, Sports Med, love you guys!)
I’ve decided to support you all in my own way, offering FREE guided meditations (both pre-recorded and live) to honor and celebrate the spirit of the Love Bubble. This community is ever in my heart.
Live Guided Meditations (and Reiki) over Zoom Day 0 through Day 5
Every night from the Cow Palace on Day 0 through the night of Red Dress Day (night of Day 5 in Lompoc) I will offer a 20 minute guided meditation over Zoom at 8:30 and again at 9:30.
These meditations are free, and geared to helping you settle in for sleep at the end of your very long days. Register once (below) and attend one or all of them. Drop in when you can, just turn your camera and mic off, that way even if the activity of camp delays you, you won’t disturb the others if you have to pop in or out.
These meditations will help:
Clear the day’s events,
Ground and protect your energy field for restful sleep
Help you ease gently into sleep with the help of Reiki (with your consent).
Sessions begin at 30 minutes after the hour, and we will take intentions for the first 5 minutes via the chat. Meditations begin in earnest at about 35 minutes after the hour and continue for 20 minutes. The call will gently disconnect while you drift off to sleep.

I’ve also recorded two guided meditations that you can listen to anytime:
Daytime Reset Meditation: clear what just happened and gently reset your nervous system, whether that is part of your morning routine, or something you have in your phone in case of unexpected events.
Nighttime Wind Down Meditation: cleanse, protect, and drift toward deep rest. This is a great option if you need to bed down earlier or later than the live options–or if you just prefer to be on your own.
Both options are available to either stream (no need to add files to your already full device!), or as a downloadable MP3 through Amy’s nonprofit: Whole Self Unity.

If you’re new to sound baths or have attended them elsewhere, it’s natural to feel curious—or even a little hesitant—about what the experience will be like. Sound healing has been used for thousands of years to bring relaxation, balance, and deep transformation.
In my sessions, I weave the power of Reiki energy with the soothing resonance of crystal singing bowls to create a unique and deeply restorative experience. Whether you’re exploring this for the first time or seeking something new, my intention is to guide you toward profound relaxation and energetic harmony.
In this post, I’ll walk you step-by-step through what you can expect during a sound healing session, how it works, and why my approach is designed to support your mind, body, and spirit.

What Happens at a Sound Healing Session by Emerge Guided Healing?
If you’re wondering what to expect at a sound healing session, it begins with a soothing soundscape created by crystal singing bowls and my channeling Reiki frequencies through singing. This creates a healing field of sound and energy tailored to your needs. Let’s talk about how that actually works, step by step.
1. Arriving and Settling In
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a peaceful, calming space. Mats, blankets, pillows, and chairs will be available to help you get comfortable—whether you prefer to lie down or sit up. If you have special comfort items, such as a yoga mat, eye mask, or cozy blanket, feel free to bring them. This time is all about you.
We’ll begin by discussing what to expect during the session. If you’re new to sound healing, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and set your personal intentions for the experience. I’ll also guide you through simple breathing techniques and tips for posture to ensure you feel supported and relaxed throughout.
Once everyone is settled, the sound healing session begins. I use crystal singing bowls tuned to the body’s natural energy centers (chakras) to create waves of sound that help release tension in your body and mind. There are also times (generally noted on the event description when you register), that I will use other instruments like drums, hand pan, tuning forks, brass bowls, and chimes.
What makes my sessions unique is the integration of Reiki energy, a gentle yet powerful form of energetic healing. As I play the bowls, I also channel Reiki frequencies through singing and toning, blending voice and sound to create a deeply transformational experience.
This “singing” is completely intuitive and channeled in the moment—no two sessions are ever the same. At times, the sounds may feel challenging or even uncomfortable. When this happens, I encourage you to return to your breathing and intentions, letting go of what no longer serves you.
Think of Reiki energy like a flowing river—it’s available to bathe in, but it’s up to you to decide how deeply you engage.
While I guide the flow of energy and create a safe, structured space for healing, your experience remains entirely personal. My role is simply to facilitate, helping you connect with your intentions and supporting your journey toward balance, release, and renewal.
3. What You Might Feel During the Session
During a sound healing session, you may feel deep relaxation, energetic release, or emotional clarity—just a few of the outcomes you can expect.
Everyone’s experience is unique, and it can vary widely for each person from session to session. However, common sensations include:
Deep relaxation as the mind quiets and the body softens.
Gentle vibrations moving through the body, releasing tension.
Emotional clarity as stuck feelings surface and dissolve.
Connection to a deeper sense of self, Source, or Universal energy.
You may even drift into a meditative or dream-like state, where profound healing can occur.
The combination of voice and crystal bowls often creates a transportive experience. As one recent participant shared:

4. Closing and Grounding
As the session comes to a close, I’ll gently guide you back to the present moment. You’ll have time to stretch, sip water, and reflect on your experience. I’ll offer space for sharing insights, asking questions, and expressing gratitude for the collective healing.
We’ll conclude with a few minutes for:
Returning borrowed comfort items.
Gathering personal belongings.
Connecting with others in the group.
Session Flow:
6:00 PM: Arrival and settling in.
6:15 PM: Instruction, intention setting, and preparation.
6:30 – 7:30 PM: Sound healing session.
7:30 – 7:45/8:00 PM: Grounding, sharing, and closing.
The entire experience lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours, leaving you feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected—ready to move through life with renewed energy and clarity.

FAQs About Sound Healing Sessions
What should I bring to a sound healing session?
You’re welcome to bring items that help you feel comfortable, like a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, or eye mask. Mats, blankets, and bolsters are available at Chico Free Spirit Healing Center as well, so you’ll have everything you need to settle in.
Definitely bring your intentions for the session. Common intentions include peace, relaxation, release of what is no longer needed, clarity, or grounding. Decide what you most need, and we will work toward that together during the session.
Energetic work often dislodges toxicity in the body as well. Finally, it is a good idea to hydrate well, and bring your own water bottle that fully closes/will not leak if accidentally knocked over.
What does a sound healing session feel like?
Experiences vary, but many people describe feeling deep relaxation, gentle vibrations moving through their body, emotional clarity, and a profound sense of peace. Some even experience a meditative or dream-like state.
Reiki, as an elevated energy, will only work to the extent that you grant permission, and only to the depth that you allow. It will always respect your personal boundaries. Even once the session begins, if you feel hesitant, expect the flow of Reiki to allow you the space for your own experience. In other words, if wish to experience the sound session, but not to receive Reiki, you can simply set this intention at the outset–or even once the session begins. Your will is sacred in your energy field.
How long does a sound healing session last?
Sessions typically last 90 minutes to 2 hours, including arrival, intention setting, the sound healing journey, and closing reflections. The meditation or sound session itself lasts about 60 minutes. This can. be long session for some, so please bring what you might need to make your body comfortable.
Everyone is asked to keep themselves comfortable, and you are invited to move if your body needs to shift. Also, you may also want to position a chair near you if laying on the floor for an hour will be challenging. Please do be respectful of other people’s experiences if you do need to shift or move.
Can I attend if I’ve never meditated before?
Absolutely! Sound healing is a gentle practice, and no prior experience is required. I’ll guide you through everything you need to know so you feel comfortable.
I have never had Reiki before. What is it and how does it work?
That’s just fine! You don’t need any experience with Reiki to give this experience a try. The energy of this sound bath, provided by a type of Reiki called Karuna Reiki, is very gentle and compassionate. It is a great starting place!
Reiki is a stress reduction and relaxation technique from Japan that provides access to a flow of life force energy that is flowing in, around, and through all of us and all things in the Universe. I experience it as the Unconditional Love that connects us all. Some may have other names for an energy like this, and it has been accessed by humans in so many ways as part of healing, replenishment, and even spiritual practices. Others my see this kind of universal energy as the physics of the Big Bang. Reiki itself is more about techniques to access this flow, and less about what to call or believe about this energy.
I open the flow of energy, and set the clear intentions for the session and the group–as expressed when we gather. The energy flows in, and you become your own healer, accessing that flow to your own healing objectives. Importantly, the flow of energy always respects any boundaries or permissions you grant, and will simply “shut off” if directed toward anything that would cause harm to you or any being. It is elevated. It is egoless, and only provides good.
Is sound healing for everyone?
Yes, sound healing is a non-invasive and gentle practice. However, if you have specific medical concerns, please consult with your healthcare provider before attending. This experience, meditation, and Reiki is never to be used as a replacement to your medical care from an advanced healthcare provider. However, this session can be quite a productive addition to your medical and self care approaches.

What is Sound Healing?

Vibration in water travels on and on…
So why does it work? Well, we’re mostly made of water, and sound vibrations move through water really well. When you’re in a sound healing session, the vibrations travel through your body, gently vibrating your tissues and leaving a subtle hum behind, even when the sound fades away. This helps shake loose any stuck energy, letting things shift on a physical, emotional, and mental level.
But it’s not just about feeling good in the moment. Sound healing can help you dive deep into your own experience. It lets your mind let go of judgment and opens you up to really observe past events or emotions from a new, more objective place. It’s like the sound helps you get out of your own way, making space for insight, healing, and clarity.

What to Expect During a Sound Healing Session
Curious about what happens in a sound healing session? Here’s what you can expect:
Getting Comfortable When you arrive, you’ll settle into a comfortable position, usually lying down, with blankets or pillows to support you. It’s all about getting you into a relaxed state.
Setting Intentions and Opening Meditation Once everyone is settled, the doors will close so that the meditation can begin. If there are special intentions or instructions we will walk through them together. This may include breathing exercises or other techniques for the session. At this point, the space will be cleansed and dedicated for the healing work of the session. This provides a focused, safe space, energetically charged for healing.
The Sound Journey Begins Then, the sound will start. It could be a mix of instruments like crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, handpan, chimes, chanting/toning, or even tuning forks. The idea is to immerse you in vibrations that reach deep within. You might hear soothing tones, but also sometimes deeper, more intense sounds that can stir things up.
Experiencing the Sound As the sound washes over you, you might feel sensations in your body, like tingling, warmth, or even pressure. Sometimes, emotions can rise up, and that’s totally okay. Sound healing isn’t just about feeling calm—it’s about releasing and healing on a deeper level. Feel free to shift or move if you need to, just do so in a way that allows others around you to stay in their own experiences.
Deep Relaxation or Insights You might slip into a meditative state, where you feel deeply relaxed or even gain new insights about yourself. You may not even realize it at the time, but your body and mind are working together to heal. Your work at this point, is to simply allow, enjoy, and go with the flow.
Coming Out of the Session At the end of the session, you’ll slowly come back to the present moment. You might feel lighter, more centered, or like a weight has been lifted. It’s common to experience a sense of calm or clarity afterward, though everyone’s experience is unique. We generally allow a minute or two for folks to return to consciousness, then offer an opportunity for sharing and questions, followed by a closing blessing and expression of gratitude.
Cleaning Up After dismissal, there will be 15 minutes to gather your things, and socialize with others. If you need more time to become present, take the time you need. Drink some water. Visit the restroom. Pack your things mindfully. Connect with others in this new vibration.
The Long-Term Benefits of Sound Healing
Sound healing isn’t just a one-time fix—it’s a tool you can use to support ongoing healing and personal growth. Here’s how sound healing can continue to benefit you long after the session is over:
Continued Release of Stuck Energy
Sound healing works on a deep level, and the vibrations can keep moving through you even after the session ends. You may find that emotions or memories surface later, which is a sign of deeper release and healing happening behind the scenes. In addition, using Karuna Reiki, a kind of Reiki that is very well adapted for sound healings really amplifies this effect.
Karuna Reiki is the vibration of compassion. Often, when I receive Karuna, it can be so gentle and subtle I wonder whether I have done much healing. The beauty of Karuna is that the healing will wait for you to be truly ready to receive the energy, and then it can powerfully step in–sometimes weeks, months, or years after the session. It is like gathering a deck of cards for a truly satisfying shuffle when you had been just scrambling them all over the table.
This form of Reiki offers healing in the moment, goes with you when you leave, and often resurfaces later when you least expect it. Karuna gives, then gives, then gives–and I can’t wait for you to experience this, too!

After your session, or even after a few sessions, you may notice that you’re more in tune with your own energy. You’ll begin to recognize when something feels “off,” and that awareness can help you make more empowered decisions in your life.

Energetic Anatomy is the study of the parts of you beyond your physical body. This study begins by understanding that all things are energy – even you. You may think of yourself as simply being your physical body, but there is something beyond those cells. In other words, you are more than just tissues. There is a difference between an alive body and a not alive body. Accordingly, the difference is the energy of you.
In fact, everything is spinning in this universe – even you. Planets spin and revolve around a star. Stars spin and spiral in a galaxy. Atoms also spin and vibrate. Your energy, within and around your physical body, is also moving. The study of Energetic Anatomy can help us grasp the invisible forces moving through and around us every moment of our lives.
Energetic Anatomy helps us construct an approach to maintaining, managing, and healing the parts of ourselves that are intangible. It provides a structure to our intuitive insights, and our co-creative imaginations in a way that allows us to talk about the energetic. Sometimes, our healing journeys can be made a lot easier when we travel a road someone else has successfully navigated. The study of energetic anatomy provides vocabulary and insight to help us learn to heal more effectively and efficiently. More than this, it gives us the chance to travel in community, which is always more healing.
Subtle Body and Energy Center Concepts
Some of the structures we will learn about you may have heard of: chakras, central channel, aura, and energetic field. I like to use these structures because they make sense to me, and many folks have already heard of them through pop culture or yoga study. However, these structures are not the only way to understand our energetic systems.
Meridians, used in Chinese Traditional Medicine and Acupuncture/Acupressure, provide another system to understand the flow of energy. I use these constructs to help with physical bodywork, or even Reiki massage. There are many different ways to visualize, structure, or understand the flow of energy to direct healing. What’s more there is no right or wrong way, simply ways to help us talk about our experiences. Obviously, what is presented here is simply one way among many possibilities.
Once we review the structures of Energetic Anatomy, we will walk through meditations to solidify the concepts. Energetic Anatomy structures and flow is a basic part of understanding how you animate your physical body and maintain your basic health. Anxiety, emotional wounds, trauma, and the general stress of living can be managed more healthfully by caring for the WHOLE self. This means including the energetic parts of you as well as tissues in your health approach.

The Importance of Understanding Your Energy Centers
Chakras are a starting place for Energetic Anatomy. Many people know the word, but few know what it actually means.
A Sanskrit word, chakra translates as “wheel”. These energy centers are perceived by many as spinning in designated locations throughout (and beyond) the body.
We begin with the seven basic chakras from any yoga practice. they are in the center of the physical body, about a hands’ breadth apart from your seat to the top of your head. As the series progresses you will learn to
identify these basic wheels,
monitor them for health,
provide ways to clean, clear, balance and charge them.
How Chakras Influence Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Well-being.
Chakras connect to, and can be found near, physical organs. It is thought that the perceived energy centers help with the physical processes of the nearby physical organ. Heart, brain, eyes, thyroid, and stomach all have centers near or over them.
In addition, chakras work with the nonphysical energies that are part of our functioning bodies. Hormones are often driven by emotions, these same hormones drive the actions of our major organs. In other words, our emotional health impacts the functioning of these vital organs–so naturally there is an emotional dimension to the function of these chakras. Find out how to help your system function more smoothly! Are you feeling voiceless or small? Let’s explore how to expand into the right energy center together.
Finally, there is always a spiritual element to our energetic anatomy, as we are connected in so many ways. Not one of us is a being alone in this Universe. We connect to other humans, to our communities, to Nature, the planet, and even to a Higher Power. Don’t worry. I’m not going to ask you change your beliefs. Still, I may ask you to define that Higher Power for yourself if you don’t already know. Some find that Higher Power concept in the physics of the Universe, others find it in the teachings of a religion or a belief system. There is room here in Energetic Anatomy for everyone, regardless of your personal beliefs.
How Energetic Anatomy Improves Self-healing and Wellness.
An awareness of Energetic Anatomy can help us to tap into wounds. Sometimes wounds are things we otherwise deny or pretend not to notice. Energetic Anatomy encourages us to notice what we ignore in our own bodies, emotional, mental, or spiritual lives.
For example, learning to sit quietly and perceive our internal energetic movements (or stagnations) can help us to truly listen for and heal our past wounds.
Working gently with our energy fields requires compassion for ourselves. This is an essential skill for any healer. Healing requires a release of judgment, to hold space for recovery and repair. Powerful healers start by learning to extend themselves this compassion. That is why this study is essential to those wanting to heal themselves or others. It requires pursuit of authenticity from the energetic out to the cellular. Honesty and wholeness truly can start here.
Energetic Anatomy in Relation to Energy Healing
Connection between Energetic Anatomy and Reiki or Other Modalities
Study of Energetic Anatomy complements and adds depth to any energetic healing approach. However, this study is not the same as the healing approach–whether that is Reiki or another modality.
Dealing with chakras and aura layers is often a part of Reiki practice, but it is not part of Reiki teachings. The analogy I can build is that Reiki is a cookbook of techniques. Using the “Reiki Cookbook” will help you heal yourself and others.
Energetic Anatomy is like the nutrition class you take to use in all of your cooking pursuits. It is the basic information and understanding that is hugely beneficial to any healing practice. However, someone can be a good healer without understanding Energetic Anatomy. Yet, learning Energetic Anatomy will make any healer more effective and beneficial.
When the two skills are combined by a healer, or when a recipient begins to understand or work with their energy system while receiving Reiki, the benefits increase exponentially. Now you can cook meals that taste great, and are also nutritionally balanced for your long term health. Adding Energetic Anatomy to energy healing of any kind is always a good idea.
Balance Your Energy for Better Health and Healing.
When we understand how energy flows through the body–physically and non-physically–we are better able to provide for the needs of our WHOLE being.
We know that exertion requires rest, drinking more water on a hot day, and to train before tackling a major physical challenge. Our energetic bodies are simply an added dimension to maintain and care for so we can function well in ALL dimensions–not just physically.
For example, I often work with folks who seek the comfort and care of Reiki after a major life event that leaves them grieving (a death, a loss of a job, an unexpected crisis). These folks often come in with reduced energetic flow in the lower chakras. These centers are the seats of our physical survival and emotional comfort. Teaching such clients how to be more gentle and mindful with these energetic areas helps them find their way through the grief. Moreover, studying the Energetic Anatomy concepts will help you help yourself as you navigate your life.

The Basics about the Energetic Anatomy Workshops
Energetic Anatomy video workshops will hit my YouTube channel every 2nd Tuesday of the month. There will be another workshop series on Energetic Hygiene that will come out on the 4th Tuesdays. On the other Tuesdays we will have a Reiki Share and other Livestreams. Now is a great time to jump on board!
We will learn all the basics about chakras, where they are, how they might look, how to invite them to grow or shrink (balance), and how to clean them.
The Central Channel is our energetic axis, just like the one running through the planet. We will delve into how it works, and how to clear it when it gets sluggish–a smooth central channel is key to keeping our chakras feeling their best.
Also, we will delve into aura layers using a simplified system, and how to work with subtle energy bodies simply and easily, even though they are very similar to the movement of clouds or weather surrounding the earth.
Finally, we will put the whole flow together by working with the spin of the energetic double torus in which we live.
If this series goes well, next year we will expand into more esoteric chakras, connecting to your highest self, expanding and unifying all aspects of the heart, and truly coming into full consciousness in the body.
Key Learning Outcomes
Participants with the series will improve physical health. By learning to clear and release existing trauma and wounds, we will improve our ability to heal ourselves and others.
Expect to improve your ability to meditate more productively when you sit to center and heal yourself. This is due to the fact that you will become more honest and authentic with yourself about your wounds. You will also develop a better capacity for authenticity with each breath.
